Is the Use of ACE Inhibitors Prior to the Onset of Scleroderma Renal Crisis Associated with Worse Outcome?

Design: Cohort

Inclusion criteria: Subjects will be all scleroderma patients diagnosed with scleroderma renal crisis by a participating rheumatologist during a 52-week period.

Exclusion criteria: None

Primary outcome measure: Death or dialysis one year after the onset of SRC in those exposed compared to those not exposed to ACE inhibitors at the onset of the scleroderma renal crisis.

Secondary outcome measures: Death or dialysis, assessed seperately, during the first year after SRC; renal function at one year.

Recruitment period: 52 weeks

Completion: One-year follow up

Date of expected analysis: Fall 2010
